YAY! Rain today! Rain rain rain rain rain YAY! \o/ *ahem*
I took advantage of the weather and headed out for the square. Almost everything had been closed or they were just opening their doors by the time I had got there. So I planned my route around that thinking I could spend a little time at the library, then use the ATM and grab some pizza, then swing by the art store to find a wooden hand model, drop by the museum, then swing by the used book store before heading home.
I went to the library trekking up a very steep hill of doom all the while trying not to get in the path of the adorable long line of little children clutching teddybears and skipping along singing on their way down to the square. It was cute. Very cute. It put a smile on my face.
Anyway it turns out the library was closed. I had wanted see if I could volunteer there and find some books on polymer clay and some books I had grabbed in college a few times but no such luck. The place opened at 1:00pm and I had intended to be back home by then.
So then I went to Bill’s Pizza hoping I could get an early lunch and use their ATM. Unfortunately they didn’t have any slices of cheese at this time so I had to skip it. I was able to withdraw some money though.
Moving on I went to the art store hoping to find a job opening there and a small model hand. Unfortunately I only got as far as the hand before I stumbled out in a dazed state of ‘WTF O_O’.
There were two wooden hands on display. One was 10 inches, the other 8 inches. Thinking the 8 inch one might be in my price range I picked it up and started looking to see how much it was going to cost me. No price. So I went to the man at the front counter and asked. He looked at the box which was under the display and read that it was $39.99.
I am horrified by this. I wasn’t expecting it to be cheap, but I wasn’t planning on it being forty dollars! This made me wonder exactly how much the large one cost. I gaze down at the box containing the large hand while the guy is estimating how much that one would cost. He is thinking it would be Fifty or so… nope.
“$39.99” I say shaking my head.
“For the small one.” He said, replacing the box under the table.
“Nope. For the large one as well. They both have the same price.”
He looks. Sure enough they are both listed for the same price. Both of us think that this can’t be right. But it turns out that it was. The price of a child sized hand is the same price of an adult sized hand.
I think I am going to put aside purchasing one of those for a while.
Rest of the trip went as planned luckily. Now I am back home and getting ready to meet mom's Boyfriend friend.
![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png) pyrofuego, it is a shame you are not out here right now. Remember how I told you that the museum would be an awesome place to get pictures when the rose garden was blooming? My weak little camera could not do them the justice they deserved.
